Haji Noor Deen, Master Calligrapher
Thurs 14 Nov – FREE ADMISSION
Haji Noor Deen Mi Guang Jiang is a world-renowned master of
Arabic calligraphy. Born in 1963 in Shangdong province, China,
he brings an immense learning in traditional thought and
Islamic art to a modern audience, juxtaposing them in a new
calligraphic style all his own that is both Eastern and Western.
As part of his UK tour in November 2019, he will deliver a
special presentation and live demonstration at Manchester Museum.
Come and discover the art of calligraphy hosted by this
amazing and talented individual.
You will have the opportunity to interact with the artist, view his work as well as taste traditional tea and experience live traditional music.
There is also the chance to have your name designed in
calligraphy as well buy Haji Noor Deen’s work. *
The Chinese and Arabic calligraphic traditions have often been compared as the two of the world’s finest manifestations of the written word, but never likened; indeed, they are at once opposites and complements.
When combined the result is an artistic piece that is a work of incredibly unique beauty, and a testimony to man’s synthesising genius.
