The KNDS Fairey Band is pleased to announce that their forthcoming concert celebrating composer Philip Sparke's 75th year will be FREE to attend, as part of a newly formed partnership with the University of Manchester Music Department
— the first in a series of concerts the band will perform at the Cosmo Concert Hall. A Jubilee Overture: 75 Years of Philip Sparke takes place on Sunday 27th September at 3pm at the Cosmo Rodewald Concert Hall, Martin Harris Centre (behind Manchester Museum). The concert runs for one hour and ten minutes with no intermission.
The programme has been selected by Sparke and conducted by Phil Chalk, drawing on works that span his career. Works include Cornet soloist Iain Culross performing Manhattan, Lakeland Variations, Music of the Spheres, and A Road Less Travelled By — the set work for the 2026 National Brass Band Championships at the Royal Albert Hall which takes place on Saturday 3rd October.
