Come along to the Give Your Car a Rest event on the ground floor of University Place (drum area) on Tuesday 12th May 11am to 3pm. Here you will be able to find out more about the travel options available to you (however you currently travel, list of stalls below), be able to register for a Personalised Travel Plan pack (or pick up your pack in some cases) and enter exciting prize draws. This event will provide staff with the information they require to make a change on 19th June Open Day. Here’s a quick run through of who is coming along and what they are offering:
TfGM Travel Choices will have their iPads at the ready to allow registration for Personalised Travel Plans and will be on-hand to talk to you about your up to date travel options and answer any queries you may have.
TfGM’s Cycling Team will be available to highlight the range of options available to staff wishing to give cycling a try and to explain ever-improving provision of cycle routes across Greater Manchester.
Northern Rail will provide information and advice on their services in the region and will be taking registrations for the free one week travel pass on their services.
Stagecoach Bus will provide information on their services and be able to discuss your situation and options.
First Bus will provide information on their services and be able to discuss your situation and options.
UMBUG (Bike User Group) will be there to showcase how the 1000+ members can provide a fantastic level of support - every pedal of the way!
Run-Commute will engage with staff about this exciting new addition to the Travel Plan and how running can form part of your working day.
Environmental Sustainability Team members will provide information and advice on the options available in the Sustainable Travel Plan.
Car Parking will have a member of their team available to answer any queries you may have on University car parking.
Edinburgh Bicycle Co-op, based just across from Whitworth Park, will have cycling experts available to answer questions on the tax-free bike scheme. They will also be running a competition to give away a £30 voucher and will have water bottles as an incentive to pop over to their stall.
Ken Fosters, a popular local bike shop, based in Chorlton, will be coming along to explain the benefits of the tax-free bike scheme, whilst showcasing some example bikes and generally passing on their cycling expertise.
