Title: Unlikely intersections in algebraic groups
Abstract: Given a subvariety V of an algebraic group G, the Zilber--Pink conjecture concerns the intersections of V with the torsion cosets of algebraic subgroups of G. The conjecture predicts, in some precise sense, that it is unlikely for these intersections to have larger than expected dimension. I will explain how techniques from model theory may be used as an approach to this (still open) conjecture and outline some partial results.
