This intriguing lecture aims to demonstrate how psychology is used within the context of educational research and practice. It is ideal for those considering studying educational psychology at undergraduate level.

Participants will consider different approaches in psychology (eg behaviourism, humanism) and critically evaluate their relative use in the context of an applied case study.

The session will also demonstrate various research methods using examples from cutting-edge, 'real-world' research. The session will end with a brief exploration of further study and career choices in this growing field.

By the end of the session, you will understand how key psychological approaches can be applied in educational research, be able to practice your own application of psychological knowledge in the context of educational research, and be knowledgeable of some of the current issues and debates in current research.
