Since 1999, the Legal Advice Centre (LAC) at the University of
Manchester has been providing free legal advice to those in need. On
this 20th anniversary year, we are proud to launch The Justice Hub at
our new home at Waterloo Place. The Justice Hub brings together the
LAC and our other flagship social responsibility projects dedicated to
social justice. These include the Miscarriages of Justice Review Centre,
Legaltech and Access to Justice, the Dementia Law Clinic and many
other innovative projects.
The evening will begin with a short talk from Lemn Sissay MBE, author,
poet and Chancellor of the University of Manchester. After Lemn’s talk
there will be the chance to hear from students past and present about
their experiences of volunteering with the Hub, followed by a free
drinks reception.
The Justice Hub is dedicated to improving access to justice to the
vulnerable, marginalised and disadvantaged. Its aim is to educate
students to be holistic, autonomous and reflective thinkers of the
future with a strong sense of values, ethics and civic engagement.
Our student volunteers, volunteer lawyers, service users and staff are
all vital to the success of the Hub, and we look forward to celebrating
the launch with you.
