In this thought provoking webinar, hear from Dr Natalie Cunningham and Dr Justin See, as they delve into the challenges faced by the development sector during these uncertain times. This webinar is delivered as part of the online Master of Leadership for Development.
The International Development sector has been badly hit by changes in funding policies from many countries, the largest USA but UK, Netherlands and others are reducing funding for development organisations. In times like this individuals and organisations need to be increasingly resilient. Dr Natalie Cunningham has been researching how we can develop sustainable resilient people, organisations and ultimately resilient societies.
In a time marked by fear and despair, what are we – as students, educators, and leaders – ought to do to address mounting environmental challenges? In this presentation, Dr Justin See articulates strategies for fostering a “politics of hope" amidst the climate crisis. Drawing from empirical case studies from communities in Southeast Asia, he will highlight how grassroots initiatives and community innovations rooted in place, solidarity, and care need to be championed as vital solutions to environmental degradation.
