Join artist Megan Powell for a Thursday Late at Manchester Museum that celebrates the culmination of her two-year-long Arts Council England funded project, After the Bees. The evening’s activities includes a screening of Powell’s feature-length film, A Fable for Tomorrow - a surrealist documentary that imagines the fate of the world’s last honeybee hive. Weaving a tale of loneliness and a longing to understand these beguiling creatures and our relationship to them, the film features footage of bees from Manchester Art Gallery’s rooftop hives and is narrated by Maxine Peake. With beekeepers, ecologists, academics, spoken word response and live music, the evening is an informal and informative celebration of Manchester’s beloved emblem, and the need to protect its future.
Film screening at 7:00pm
After the Bees runs until July 2017.
