Delivering a research project on time, within scope, and to the highest standard takes more than just good intentions — it requires strategic planning, realistic budgeting, and effective risk management.
This workshop equips you with practical tools and insights to plan, manage, and deliver research projects that are both fundable and feasible. You’ll learn how to design projects that meet funder and institutional requirements, avoid common pitfalls (including under-costing), and align your efforts with your long-term career goals.
Intended learning outcomes
- Analyse strategies for managing risk in a research context, identify key project milestones, and apply approaches to avoid unproductive or dead-end projects.
- Apply core project-management techniques to plan, monitor, and deliver research outcomes efficiently.
- Implement time-management and prioritisation strategies that align daily activities with long-term research and career objectives.
- Develop realistic and justifiable project budgets that meet funder expectations and ensure the proposed research is deliverable within the available resources.
