About the event:

Healthcare professional behaviour change is fundamental to the implementation of any health policy, intervention or safety measure intended to deliver best practice. Multiple systematic reviews by the Cochrane Collaboration of the outcomes of interventions aimed at healthcare professionals (such as audit with feedback, additional training or financial incentives) have identified the lack of theoretical underpinnings as one cause of the low/medium quality of the studies identified. Additionally, consideration of other constraints such as organisational factors should also inform the development of interventions.

This research event aims to share the best available evidence of healthcare behaviour change from those working in both academic and clinical settings. The rationale for targeting healthcare professionals, as well as examples of technological interventions will be presented. The event aims to create and build upon a network of researchers working in developing technological solutions to support healthcare professional behaviour change and establish potential collaborations.

Discussion topics will include:

  • What is the rationale for behaviour change in healthcare professionals (HCPs)?
  • What is the value of theory in HCP behaviour change?
  • How can technology be incorporated into practice? What are the barriers/facilitators?

There will also be poster displays boards available, please bring along any relevant conference posters to display over lunch (please tick the relevant box on the registration page).
