Join the Centre for Primary Care & Health Services Research on Tuesday 21st February, 1pm for a seminar from Dr Sam Merriel, University of Manchester, who will be speaking about Primary Care Research Across the Cancer Continuum:
One-in-two people in the UK will be affected by cancer in their lifetime. Globally it is the second highest cause of Disability Adjusted Life Years (DALYs) lost due to any health condition. Cancer outcomes for patients in the UK are relatively poor compared to similar high-income countries. Policies and healthcare service initiatives to improve cancer outcomes can focus on a wide range of areas, from preventive measures such as smoking cessation or tackling obesity, earlier detection via cancer screening and advancing diagnostics, through to support for cancer survivors. Primary care plays a pivotal role for improving cancer outcomes across the cancer continuum, and this seminar will highlight some key areas.
