Cooking Up Stuff for Materials Science – Recent Developments in Thermal Analysis
Dates: | 6 November 2019 |
Times: | 12:30 - 13:30 |
What is it: | Seminar |
Organiser: | Department of Materials |
Speaker: | Dr. Tim Mann |

In this seminar we will be looking at the latest developments in the field of thermal Analysis for materials testing. The use of HyperDSC for probing
polymer morphology and its use in the studies of polymorphism and glass transition will be discussed. Studies of evolved gases using hyphenated
techniques such as TGA-IR and TGA-IR-GCMS will also be discussed.
Biography
I joined PerkinElmer in 1996 as a product specialist for Thermal Analysis. Prior to joining PerkinElmer I was a PostDoctoral researcher studying Polysiloxane
polymers for pyroelectric self-assembling Langmuir Blodgett films, having completed my PhD in Liquid Crystalline Cyclic Polysiloxanes at the University of Hull.
