Welcome to this Guest Research Lecture
To specify HVDC converter and therefore ensure stability in real-world project, the control interactions of HVDC grid must be quantified without open-up vendor’s IP. This presentation introduces a sufficient condition to assess linearized Bounded-Input-Bounded-Output (BIBO) stability of a Multi-Vendor-Multi-Terminal (MVMT) HVDC grid over broad frequencies. Without mandatory utilization of Nyquist Criteria or passivity of impedance, this presentation will propose a guidance on how the stability of an HVDC grid can be predicted based on measurements of individual components without access to internal design of HVDC converters. Assisted by constructing and assessing an auxiliary transfer matrix in frequency domain, a set of elegant criteria are formulated with clear physical implications. The intended proof of sufficiency and its generalization will be introduced. The advantage of achievability will be showcased in comparison with passivity of nodal admittance in case studies.
