Part of: The Complete Works: Year 1 – Hope & Resistance
Editor, critic & broadcaster Ellah Wakatama Allfrey OBE curates and presents a brand-new series of in-depth interviews at HOME, in partnership with the University of Manchester, with a line-up of some of our most exciting contemporary writers whose work embodies and has strong resonance with the powerful theme of Hope & Resistance.
Few novels sum up Hope & Resistance more powerfully than Kamila Shamsie’s Home Fire, which was longlisted for the 2017 Man Booker Prize and won the 2018 Women’s Prize for Fiction.
In this in-depth conversation with Ellah Wakatama Allfrey, we’ll find out more about the inspiration for Home Fire and the author’s other novels including A God in Every Stone, shortlisted for the Baileys Prize, the Walter Scott Prize for Historical Fiction and the DSC Prize for South Asian Literature. Three of Kamila’s novels have received awards from Pakistan’s Academy of Letters. Kamila Shamsie is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Literature and in 2013 was named a Granta Best of Young British Novelist.
