Histories of care are often hidden within numerous organisations and personal archives, drawing these stories to light can inform and shape the future of child social care. Join us in the Historic Reading Room as we consider the value and meaning of these histories in a public discussion involving historians, social workers and NGO workers.
Chaired by Dr Kate Gibson (The University of Manchester) and Dr Claudia Soares (The University of Newcastle)
Guests speakers:
Saul Becker, Manchester Metropolitan University
Kate Brooks, Bath Spa University
Emily Baughan, University of Sheffield
Melissa Craib, Who Cares? Scotland
At 4.30pm, before the event there will be a Collection Encounter with curators from the John Rylands Research Institute who will share the stories of Care-Experienced individuals in the Rylands collections.
