The Pedagogy Development programme is led by Dianne Burns and ensures that all those contributing to Faculty programmes can engage with sound pedagogy and share best practice in teaching, learning and student experience. It is based on four key areas that align with the University's Teaching, Learning and Student vision and Faculty Strategy for Teaching, Learning and Students which are each split into three segments that make up the development framework that is fondly known as the "Wheel". We encourage all those involved in teaching activities across the Faculty of Biology, Medicine and Health to take part in the programme, including those from our education partners in the NHS, Industry and other workplace settings.
Our learners contribute to planning content for the programme and the ethos is one of transformative learning; that is, learning as an active and life-changing process that requires educators not only to challenge learners’ thinking but also be prepared to engage critically and develop their own practice.
In this masterclass, participants should take away an understanding of the factors that correlate with student success and progress as well as ideas as to how these relate to / can be embedded in their own work. Participants should feel more confident discussing differential attainment and addressing it with colleagues.
