These days are aimed at those students with a proficiency in mathematics (e.g. are likely to take A-level mathematics) and with an interest in the theory and practice of computer science. There will be talks on the importance of computer science, technology demonstrations, a short tour of both the department and the history of computer science, and a Q&A session. The day will culminate with a hands-on programming workshop that will provide an introductory experience of the popular Java programming language, in the context of the Linux operating system.
