Join us for the annual Rylands Poetry Reading, this year delivered by one of our best-loved poets Mimi Khalvati. Her award-winning lyrical poetry has been inspired by everything from her Persian background to her travels in the Mediterranean. She employs a variety of poetic forms from sonnets to ghazals to capture the richness of life through the lens of her fragmented heritage.
Mimi Khalvati has published ten poetry collections with Carcanet including The Meanest Flower, shortlisted for the T.S. Eliot Prize and The Weather Wheel, a Poetry Book Society Recommendation and a book of the year in The Independent. Her 2024 Collected Poems brings together her earlier works alongside previously unpublished poems. She was the founder of The Poetry School, was awarded the 2023 King's Gold Medal for Poetry and was the winner of the Jhalak Poetry Prize 2025.
Presented in partnership with the Centre for New Writing and Creative Manchester.
