Ed Wraith Professional and family conference | Recollecting excellence in lysosomal storage diseases
Host: Faculty of Medical and Human Sciences
About the event:
Professor Ed Wraith was the director of the Willink Biochemical Genetics Unit at St Mary’s Hospital and had an honorary appointment in the Faculty of Medical and Human Sciences at the University of Manchester. He was a giant in the lysosomal storage disease field with a world-leading reputation and his clinical trials resulted in 6 of the 9 licenced drugs currently available for lysosomal diseases today. Ed died suddenly on the 10th April 2013.
This half day memorial meeting will be held close to the anniversary of Ed’s death and is themed around his life and work and includes talks from some of the leading experts on lysosomal diseases including unique insights into multidisciplinary disease management, clinical trials and patient perspectives. This is followed by a chance to network and reminisce on Ed’s great achievements in the field at a drinks reception, gala dinner and ceilidh with the band “Triple Scotch”.
The meeting is designed to be both educational and accessible to a wide audience including clinicians, scientists, nurses and support groups working in the lysosomal disease area, as well as affected families who were so close to Ed’s heart.
The event will be held at the fantastic new state of the art conference facility at the Lancashire County Cricket Club in close proximately to many of Manchester’s great attractions.
