Speakers for 24 October 2024:

Dr Alejandra Diaz De Rienzo - University of Salford Biotechnology in Action: Bridging the Gap from the Bench to the Industry Through the years Biotechnology research have focused on transitions from laboratory research to real-world applications. This process mainly involves validation of experiments, designing and implementing system for the scale up production, meeting regulatory standards to comply with ethic regulations, with the aim of turning bench scale solutions into viable products. From developing sustainable environmental solutions to new formulations of pharmaceutical products, biotechnology plays a main role in addressing global challenges. By promoting collaboration between academics and industry members, we can accelerate the translation of scientific research into impactful technologies that enhance our daily life, not just though economic growth but for a more sustainable future.

Danny Wales - University of Salford Brewing waste, a potential resource for the chemicals industry? By harnessing enzymes found in under researched species PhD candidate, Danny Wales is looking into the possibility of valorising the waste produced by the brewing industry.
