Ego-net of patients with severe mental disorder
Patients’ social support network play a key role in care coordination and in personalised care, particularly for patients with severe mental illness (SMI). As community care is getting more attention from public policies, collecting and making the best use of the information to sustain these networks is becoming a priority. The paper briefly reviews the literature about SMI ego-network, then describes an intervention aiming at collecting routine ego-net data in psychiatric wards. In order to provide valuable feedback to clinicians, we came up with two classifications, one from a cluster analysis and the other from Claire Bidart typology (social network, 2018). We apply Claire Bidart typology of ego-network and assess whether that typology is valuable for our purpose.
