Ghassan Hage: Illusio: ethnographic deployment of a meta-theoretical category
This presentation will explore the combination of philosophical and anthropological problematics underlying Bourdieu’s concept of illusio. It will further examine the place of the concept within what I call Bourdieu’s political economy of being. Finally it will also explore the versatile analytic power of the concept by comparing my own deployment of it in three different ethnographic contexts.
