This first draft of the LB Bill is one outcome of the ongoing Justice for LB campaign which seeks justice for Connor Sparrowhawk (nicknamed Laughing Boy) who drowned in the bath in an Oxfordshire assessment and treatment unit last year. This was a preventable death.
The Bill seeks to make 2 key changes to law:
1. to make it a legal reality for disabled people to be fully included in their communities
2. to make it harder for the State to force disabled people to leave their homes against their wishes, or the wishes of their families.
The authors welcome feedback about this first draft of the Bill
