Chibwe Henry is the Co-Founder and CEO of One World Together, a movement designed to support and strengthen local and community-based organisations in their fight against poverty and inequality in the UK and globally. Over the past 18 years, as an experienced and innovative NGO and International Development management professional, Chibwe has achieved a strong track record of working for and building local, national, and international charities and Grantmakers.
Chibwe is also a Teaching Fellow at Queen Mary University of London, School of Business and Management. She was previously a Portfolio Manager at Comic Relief for a programme co-funded by the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO), where she managed a complex £27m plus portfolio of grants across nine African countries. The programme aimed to improve educational opportunities and outcomes for the poorest and most disadvantaged whilst building more robust and inclusive education systems in sub-Saharan Africa.
Chibwe is passionate about contributing to improving social and economic opportunities and outcomes in the Global South and the UK. She is also committed to facilitating and enhancing UK-based Global South Diaspora’s awareness, engagement, and contribution to the attainment of inclusive, economic growth on the continent. Chibwe strongly advocates that African Diaspora are a powerful agent for fostering sustainable development and that diaspora contributions should not be measured merely in financial terms but as inputs of skilled labour and the ability to build bridges between countries of origin and destination that help stimulate not only economic activity but transfers of knowledge and cultural & social norms.
Chibwe has been nominated as one of the TOP 100 most influential, impactful and successful #African #business #leaders, #entrepreneurs and #professionals in the UK by the African Business Chamber (AfBC) Top 100 Initiative, which aims to showcase, acknowledge and celebrate the achievements, successes and contributions of African businesses, entrepreneurs and professionals in the UK, accelerate AfBC effort to enhance their voice and to harness inclusive economic growth.
