Join us for this seminar by Hwee Kuan Lee (A*STAR Bioinformatics Institute, Singapore) as part of the North West Seminar Series in Mathematical Biology and Data Science. Details of the full series can be found here https://www.cms.livjm.ac.uk/APMSeminar/
The talk will be hosted in person in the Zochonis building, Lecture Theatre D. For those who cannot attend in person the talk will also be streamed via zoom, please contact carl.whitfield@manchester.ac.uk or igor.chernyavsky@manchester.ac.uk for the zoom link, or sign up to the mailing list.
Abstract: Coronary artery disease (CAD) is a leading cause of cardiac mortality in Singapore and worldwide, with 19% of deaths in Singapore due to CAD. Numbers of CAD cases are growing rapidly due to ageing and higher prevalence of diabetes. Computed Tomography Coronary Angiography (CTCA) is the first-line investigator for CAD. Current practice of CAD report generation requires 3-6 hours of a CT specialist’s time for annotating the scans, and with inter-observer variability of 20%. These problems have strongly and severely constrained the effectiveness of CTCA as a diagnostic and research tool. In this seminar, I will report on our platform enhanced by AI technologies for simultaneous reporting of calcium scores, plaque quantification, stenosis and epicardial adipose tissues. It is a “one-stop” platform spanning from diagnosis to clinical, management and prognosis, and aids in predicting therapy response in the pharmaceutical industries.
