6.30-9pm. After Hours are evening social events where you encounter the unexpected. Artists, scientists, filmmakers, writers and musicians animate our collections in special one-off performances. After Hours is supported by Barefoot Wine www.barefootwine.com. March’s theme is Fair Trade, fashion, food and film. In partnership with Unchosen Film Campaigns.
Throughout the evening you can explore the Museum’s Living Cultures, Manchester and Money galleries and discover links between the Museum’s collection, cotton and textiles; refashion pre-loved clothes with the help of Stitched Up, a group of earth-conscious fashionista-revolutionaries, who provide workshops and events to inspire a more creative and sustainable wardrobe; or handle some Museum objects.
There will also be a live performance, film screening and panel discussion:
6.45-7.15pm: Uzbek dance performance by San’at Mahmudova
7.30-8.30pm: Film screening of Fashion's Dirty Secrets
Secret filming carried out inside a number of Leicester textiles factories and suppliers, exposes shocking practices existing right here in modern Britain.
8.30-9pm: Panel discussion in response to Fashion's Dirty Secrets, with representatives from Unchosen Film Campaigns, Stitched Up collective and Afrcuba
Price: Drop-in, free, adults
