For both new visitors and those already familiar with the Tabley House Collection, Tabley House contains a nationally important collection of British Art.
Whilst focusing on the work of Sir John Fleming Leicester, one of the country’s most significant art patrons of the early nineteenth century, the tour shall also place his contribution within the context of the collection as a whole, built up by the Leicester family from the seventeenth century to the twentieth century.
All of these paintings can viewed in their original setting, surrounded by the family furniture and furnishings, and in the case of J.M.W Turner’s ‘Windy Day’, see it hung where the artist and knew it would have maximum impact.
