We’re delighted to welcome Dr Iain McKinnon, Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer in Psychiatry at Newcastle University and Consultant Psychiatrist with Cumbria Northumberland Tyne & Wear NHS Foundation Trust.
Topic: Where blue meets the blues: a journey through research with the police, and the patients who have contact with them.
Dr McKinnon is a psychiatrist and researcher working at the interface of forensic mental health, vulnerable populations, and the criminal justice system. He has pioneered new approaches to screening and intervention in police custody and currently leads the NIHR-funded PIONEER-MH study on crisis response pathways. He also co-leads the Mental Health, Dementia and Neurodegeneration Theme at Newcastle University and has secured over £3m in research funding.
