My group is interested in the early development of neurons. We have established the developing cranial sensory ganglia in chick as an easily accessible model to address questions relating to fundamental mechanisms controlling neuronal development. We are analysing the roles of candidate genes identified as a result of a microarray screen to find intrinsic changes in migrating peripheral neuroblasts. We can draw parallels with the developing CNS and are using this system to provide insights into the molecular control of neurogenesis, neuronal migration, and neuronal morphology.
