An evening exploring the collision of live performance and video games. Hosted by: Baba Israel.
CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS - DEADLINE: FEBRUARY 18th 2010
Do you spend your days in the rehearsal room and your nights in front of your console? Or do you make theatre and wonder why people love video gaming?
Want to try bringing the two worlds together?
Welcome to Play Space The Beta Test.
From Grand Theft Auto to World of Warcraft; Super Mario to Singstar video gaming is now a multi-billion pound industry incorporating everything from big blockbuster tie-ins to innovative independent producers. Yet as an art form its potential has barely been tapped. On March 11th we will be exploring the crossover between video gaming and live performance in a brand new night, Play Space The Beta Test - and we want your ideas!
Funny or thoughtful; clever or cutting we are looking for original performance proposals that bring stage and computer screen together in fresh and ingenious ways.
Your proposal should:
Consist of a five minute scratch performance and a five minute presentation with Q&A with the panel of judges and audience.
Play with video gaming’s themes, conventions and concepts.
Incorporate video gaming technology.
In return we will offer:
A stage
Lights
Sound
Projector
Power
An audience
Plus, one proposal will be selected by our panel of judges to receive £500 and a week of rehearsal space to help develop it into a performance that will appear at Contact.
Interested? Then send your proposals or questions to babaisrael@contact-theatre.org
We look forward to reading them.
Deadline for submissions: February 18th 2010
Please spread the word!
