Creative Manchester are pleased to present a morning research café as part of the So Many Beauties Dementia Friendly Music Festival, taking place at Bridgewater Hall on 20th September.
This free event will feature a short panel discussion and Q&A with Academics from the University of Manchester on the topic of Creative Health, Dementia, and the healthy brain. Dr Sarah Fox (Research associate, NIHR Applied Research Collaboration Greater Manchester) will lead discussion exploring the intersection of brain health and creativity, along with Professor John Keady (Professor of Older People’s Mental Health), Dr Angela Whitecross (Research Associate), and Dr MaoHui Deng (Lecturer in Film Studies). Throughout the day, attendees will also be able to take part in a creative lino-printing activity on exploring what it means to have a creative, healthy brain, created by Dr Sarah Fox and Dr Henry McPherson (Research Associate, Creative Manchester).
About the So Many Beauties Dementia Friendly Music Festival
So Many Beauties dementia friendly music festival will provide a welcoming and inclusive space for people of all ages and backgrounds to share and enjoy musical experiences together. We’ve been fortunate to work with a number of different dementia support groups whose members have co-produced this unique and exciting event. There will be lots to explore at the festival including live performances of brand new music, familiar songs and tunes in many styles; singing and music making workshops; dance energisers; arts activities and opportunities to get advice and support.
