We are pleased to announce that submissions are now open for the SEED Postgraduate Researcher Conference 2026:

World in Flux: Weaving Interdisciplinary Responses to Global Challenges Thursday 28th May 2026 University of Manchester

We welcome submissions from researchers at any stage in their postgraduate journey, from any discipline, especially those who have not presented at a conference before. Options for presentations or posters are available.

This free, one-day event is hosted by the School of Environment, Education and Development (SEED), in partnership with The University of Manchester.

The World in Flux Conference will explore the reality of confronting global crises that continually evolve, revealing new and shifting dimensions with every attempt to address them. These challenges are not discrete problems to be solved in isolation, but interconnected expressions of geopolitical, economic, technological, and environmental forces in constant interaction.

This event brings together postgraduate researchers across Manchester to examine how we can work together to resolve interconnected global challenges in an ever-changing world.

We invite work related (but not limited) to the following themes:

  • Geopolitical instability and global power shifts
  • Systems thinking, transformative innovation and interdisciplinary approaches
  • Climate change, environmental degradation, and resource insecurity
  • Intersections of culture, identity, and power
  • Technology, data, and digital infrastructures
  • Equality, diversity and inclusion

Participation Options: Presenter: 15-min presentation, plus 5-min Q&A Presenter: Poster presentation session Audience: In-person attendance
