CRESC Annual Lecture 2015: What Can Devolution Do?
Keynote Speaker: Natalie Bennett, Leader of the Green Party
What kind of opportunity does devolution represent? Hopes and promises are not outcomes, and devolution is too narrowly framed if it becomes a way of boosting economic growth so that questions of social and democratic renewal are secondary. Can devolution, more broadly, be a means to diverse ends including a ‘rebalanced’ economy, fewer inequalities, more public goods and services, and a revitalized democracy?
These issues are discussed in the 2015 CRESC Annual Lecture by Natalie Bennett, Leader of the Green Party, one of the new voices empowered by failing mainstream political franchises. Before audience Q&A we will have short responses from two academics, Mick Moran the distinguished political scientist and Kevin Morgan currently adviser to the European Commissioner for Regional Policy.
This event will be followed by a drinks reception.
