We’re delighted that Professor Adam Briggs will be joining us in person on Tuesday 7th July 2026, to share his insights as Director of the NIHR Public Health Research Programme (PHR) | NIHR.

The NIHR Public Health Research (PHR) Programme funds research on non-NHS interventions that can improve population health and reduce health inequalities—helping public health decision-makers make evidence-based choices.

Given the strong alignment with UoM research into reducing health inequalities and improving public health, we’re looking to increase both the number and the quality of our applications to the PHR Programme.

This is a great opportunity for anyone considering a future PHR submission (or supporting one) to hear directly from the Programme Director.

Chaired by Dr Tracey Farragher (current PHR panel member), the session will cover: • PHR priority areas and what the programme is looking to fund • What typically differentiates successful applications • How the PHR Programme operates • Practical tips for shaping your proposal and engaging with the Programme • Open discussion and Q&A (questions welcome in advance)

Colleagues from all faculties, disciplines and career stages are very welcome.

We encourage in-person attendance, but a hybrid option will be available. Light refreshments will be served in the atrium afterwards, with time to network informally with colleagues.

To register (and to submit any questions in advance), please use the relevant link.
