As educators in FBMH, we play a crucial role in preparing our students to address some of the world’s most pressing health and environmental challenges. But how do you bring sustainability into your teaching in a way that feels relevant, manageable, and authentic to your discipline? Many colleagues worry it means a major curriculum overhaul, or that they need to be experts in environmental science. In reality, embedding sustainability can be as simple as making small changes that highlight connections between your subject and the wider challenges facing society.
This session will provide both practical strategies and collaborative discussion tailored to the FBMH context. You’ll leave with ideas that are achievable within your existing workload, grounded in the resources already available at the University, and designed to engage students in meaningful discussion about the world they’re preparing to shape.
Intended Learning Outcomes
• Gain awareness of the approach taken in each school to embed Embedding environmental sustainability in teaching and learning and the resources available.
• Brainstorm and discuss ES-related activities that could be incorporated into your teaching - small or large
