How can a journey change the way an architect thinks, lives and designs? In 1975, British architect David Lea travelled to China. An early advocate of environmentally responsible architecture, Lea returned from the visit with experiences and ideas that would leave a lasting impression on his life and work.
Drawing on Lea's remarkable photographs of China in the 1970s, alongside images of his later architectural projects, both built and unbuilt, Adam Voelcker explores the connections between this journey and Lea's evolving approach to architecture and everyday living. The talk offers a glimpse into China at a time of profound political and social change.
There will be an audience Q&A after the presentation.
Tickets are free and everyone is welcome.
